SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES
overview
BACKGROUND OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Adamawa State College of Health Technology in Mubi is one of the notable institutions offering health-related education in northeastern Nigeria. The institution aims to produce middle-level health professionals capable of providing healthcare services to communities and the Public Health sectors across Nigeria. The Public Health Department trains students in Public Health Principles, Disease Prevention, Community Health Education, and Public Health Management.
The College originally began offering programs related to health technology to address the healthcare workforce needs in Adamawa and neighboring states. The Public Health Department was established in the year 2021 to fulfill the need for skilled personnel in the domain of Public Health, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
The Department’s Curriculum is structured to blend theory with practical experience. Over the years, the college has developed collaborations with local health institutions, Primary Healthcare centers, and Public Health Agencies to ensure students get hands-on experience. Students of the Public Health Department often participate in community outreach programs, Public Health campaigns, and epidemiological studies as part of their training.
